I remember when I was a kid - back when I was about 9 or 10 years old - when I was still in grade school and those days when I could go home early because of a half-day schedule. I was usually alone in the house because all else was either in school or in work. I would usually eat my lunch, open the T.V. set (while still on my uniforms) and start to browse on channels looking for a cartoon available on an early afternoon slot maybe - and sad to say, they weren't available not until 3 or 4pm. There were these usual noontime shows from 3 or 4 networks back then like Eat Bulaga from channel 2, Lunch Date from channel 7, and two other programs I seem to forget the titles and hosts as well. Then there were this vintage movies from Sampaguita pictures where you see the younger versions of Miss Nida Blanca, Susan Roces, Fernando Poe Jr., Eddie Gutierrez, and the comedy king, Dolphy on his funny antics. In shear sadness, I would usually open the VHS to watch a movie of taped episodes of Tom and Jerry or the Mickey mouse series or may be go outside and wait for my friends to come home to play.

After spending sometime to those channels which finally placed me in complete boredom, I found this program which featured mushy classic 80's music playing on ABC channel 5. So during the first time I sat down with it, I heard Chaka Kahn singing '"Through the Fire" with that all electrified voice and 'hair' as well. Then there's The Jets singing "Cross my Broken Heart' while doing a weird dance steps and Swing Out Sister with "Am I the same girl" . Suddenly, without any history of love into music, I was glued to it unknowingly. Sooner than later, I was already singing along to the sounds of James Ingram, Rick Astley, Madonna, Peter Cetera, Air Supply and many more just to name a few. On my sessions with this program, there's this band I heard, Toto.

The first song I heard from the band was I'll Be over You, and after that I felt this good rhythm inside me that connected with it. This song has two versions, one where you can hear lead singer Steve Lukather on lead vocals and the other version wherein Michael McDonald doing a second voice. The second version was way better and heavier. Toto was known for their light rock or progressive rock notes on their first two albums, they had started venturing on pop music at this time, and this was the first pop song they've done that hit the charts. Since then I figured, they were like music gods I may say. They were able to combine rock, pop, funk, jazz and r & b at the same time. This music video that was shot on a roof top delivered a good vibe. It was all good. Then and then ,everyday after I came home from school, this program has become one of my personal favorites and I always wait for a Toto song to be played.

It's really funny, because one night I found myself and my sister waiting for our dad to sleep while we were watching T.V. He was like the boss of the remote control and we didn't had the chance to choose any channels when he was around. I was waiting for a Toto special to be aired that night for their long-awaited concert here in our Republic. It was an agitating moment as the program was to start at 10:30 PM and it was like just few minutes and our dad was already asleep at the couch....still holding the remote. Grrr! Then I noticed my sister, fixing the VCR for reasons I didn't know then, She turned it on, placed some old VHS tape then manually changed the channel (Why didn't I think of that?). Then whoala! The Toto special! We were both waiting for the special and all along, both of us didn't know that we like Toto. The program started with the album logo of a an inverted spear or sword surrounded by different stones. Then the first song played was "Hold the Line". We both watched the show while recording it on the VCR while our dad was sleeping. Because of my child-body strength, I never had the chance of finishing the special for I too dose down to sleep while sitting on the sofa.

Song after song, I had become a fan. From "I'll be over you" to "Rosanna" then to "Pamela" and etc. I was enjoying my youth with this band and their type of music. They were like pop stars on rock star bodice. Nevertheless, I enjoyed their song. I never had the chance on seeing them live because I was too young then. I was all into their CD (which I lost then) and to radio and t.v. replays.

Presently, the band has been on mini concerts and word tours. Their songs are continually being played on radios and sang at bars and resto's here in Manila. They even had a place on the 80's folder of my mp3. For more information regarding the band follow the link below.

Early life and family
Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo was born September 1, 1957 in Havana, Cuba, to Jose and Gloria Fajardo. Her mother's father Leonardo Garcia emigrated to Cuba from Pola de Siero, Asturias, Spain where he married a woman from Logroño, Spain. The family fled to Lafayette, Indiana, during the Cuban Revolution. A few years after they moved, Jose joined the US military during the Vietnam War. Her father had been a Cuban soldier and bodyguard of Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista.

Career in singing

1984-1988: The Miami Sound Machine

In 1989, after the worldwide chart success of single "Anything For You", her Let it Loose album was repackaged as Anything For You. It became the band's first UK #1 album, selling over a million copies. It was the biggest selling album of the year in The Netherlands, staying at #1 for 22 weeks. Film and television appearances

In addition to her singing career, Estefan has appeared in two movies, Music of the Heart (1999) and For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story (2000). Estefan made a cameo appereance with her husband Emilio Estefan Jr. on the smash-box office hit Marley & Me in 2008, her first movie role since 2000.

She is cast to star she asdafsdgtrj wbh. as Connie Francis, a U.S. pop singer of the 1950s and early 1960s, in Who's Sorry Now?, based on Francis’ life. Estefan has made occasional television appearances as well. She appeared in the ABC television special Elmopalooza, which aired February 20, 1998, in which she sang the song "Mambo, I, I, I." In April 2004, Estefan appeared on the Fox Broadcasting Company’s program, American Idol, but she declined an offer to be an official judge, saying she does not like to "judge" others.[citation needed]

Books

Estefan has written two children's books: The Magically Mysterious Adventures of Noelle the Bulldog (2005) and Noelle's Treasure Tale (2006). The latter book spent a week at #3 on the New York Times Bestseller list for children's books.

She also collaborated on a cookbook with her husband entitled Estefan Kitchen, which was published in 2008. It contains 60 traditional Cuban recipes.

They also own two hotels: the Costa d'Este in Vero Beach which opened in 2008, and The Cardozo in Miami Beach.

Gloria Estefan was appointed to the board of directors for Univision Communications Inc. in 2007, according to Hispanic Market Weekly. The Estefans' estimated net worth as of 2007 was approximately $500 million, according to an article in People En Espanol magazine (February 2007).

In June 2009, Gloria Estefan and her husband, producer Emilio Estefan, bought a "very small" ownership stake in the Miami Dolphins.

Personal life

Gloria became romantically involved with the Miami Sound Machine's band leader , Emilio Estefan, in 1976. She and Emilio married on September 1, 1978. They have a son, Nayib (born September 2, 1980) and a daughter, Emily Marie (born December 5, 1995). The family lives in the exclusive Star Island section of Miami Beach, Florida.

Award

In addition to her seven Grammys, Estefan has received a number of other awards. In May 1993, she received the Ellis Island Congressional Medal of Honor, which is the highest award that can be given to a naturalized U.S. citizen.[citation needed] She has won the Hispanic Heritage Award, an MTV Video Music Award, two cable television ACE Awards and the 1993 National Music Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year award. The singer is the recipient of the American Music Award for Lifetime Achievement. She also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her husband, Emilio, a world-renowned music impresario, received a star adjacent to his wife’s on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2005.

In 2002, she received the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Medallion of Excellence for Community Service. The singer was Musicares Person of the Year in 1994. Gloria also founded the Gloria Estefan Foundation whose goal is to help those with spinal cord injuries.

She has been honored twice by the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 1992, she served as a public member of the United States Delegation to the 47th General Assembly to the United Nations.

She was awarded "Person of the Year" at the Latin Grammy Awards in a ceremony aired in November 2008, in recognition of her twenty-five year singing career. She is the first female singer to receive this award.She also received a Latin Grammy for "Best Traditional Tropical Album" for 90 Millas, and a Latin Grammy for "Best Tropical Song" for her single, "Píntame De Colores". This marked the first occasion for Estefan to ever win a Grammy award for a song (either Latin or non-Latin).

On March 12, 2009 she was honored by the BMI Foundation with the "BMI Icon" award.The award was previously given to other singers such as Carlos Santana, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Brian Wilson.

Last Sunday which coincides with the celebration of Father's Day, we had plans of treating our father for lunch. The treat includes bringing him along our Sunday worship which we decided in CCF in Ortigas. It had been a rough morning prior to the treat for we siblings had fought and the plan had almost not went into play. You see how the devil makes way to destroy God's plan for my father. Many knows my father is still not a believer - not a born again christian. This has been with our deepest and fervent prayer for so many years and it has been our greatest burden especially that he is becoming older and time is of no assurance for him.

I will not go on to details of what happened during the fight but after that I don't know what happened but God's intervention was there. My dad was unaware that prior to the lunch, we were going to CCF for a service. You can see the excitement in his eyes. When we were already at the building, I knew my Father already had the idea. Most of the time he would walk-out or stay somewhere else. But this time he didn't. He stayed inside, with us. Our family was complete except for my sister's husband. The praise and worship started and it really felt different especially that my dad was there. It completes an empty love in my heart that I cannot explain. A family complete, attending the church. It has been years since we had that(when we were still in the Spiritism religion, when I was like 6 or 7 years old). This very song was played, I felt so weak and I felt God's love embracing me. I saw our eldest sister crying so much and my mom was in awe of worship. I can't describe the feeling, to a minimum there was happiness and love surrounding me together with my family. I want to cry so much because we were complete that time. I know that my father will be joining us soon in our worship and be a genuine follower of Christ.

The lunch even brought more happiness. We ate at Burgoo in Podium. We were one happy family again. The one we used to be. When we were already on our way home, I don't want to depart from them and go back to our dorm. I felt so safe and happy that I figured how much I miss my family. Being away from them had been hard for me. Spending that Sunday with them made me felt less of an independent person and needing more of them. haha Sa lahat ng makakbasa nito...tama kayo. Isa akong madramang tao. Aminado naman. I won't deny it.

BACK TO THE 80's: The Jets

The Jets
They are a family band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, comprised of brother and sisters who specialize in pop, R&B and dance music.

They officially formed in 1985, with the original lineup fizzling out by 1990. Several members of the family stayed on throughout the 1990s, unofficially reviving the group in the mid to late 1990s as a gospel outfit with most of the original members present.

Various record companies have released collections of songs from the group's popular period, while the modern incarnation of the group continues to perform at various small venues, primarily casinos, and private corporate functions.

Background
The original band consisted of the eight oldest children of Maikeli "Mike" and Vaké Wolfgramm - LeRoy, Eddie, Eugene, Haini, Rudy, Kathi, Elizabeth and Moana.

Mike and Vaké, who have 17 children in total, are originally from the South Pacific island kingdom of Tonga. The family is of Tongan and German ancestry.

Successes

The original members of The Jets had a number of Billboard Hot 100 hits in the mid- to late-1980s, including five top 10 singles on the Hot 100 chart: "Crush on You", "You Got It All", "Cross My Broken Heart", "Rocket 2 U" and "Make It Real". "Sendin' All My Love", which peaked at #88 on the Hot 100, reached #1 on the Billboard dance chart; "You Got It All" and "Make It Real", both ballads featuring lead vocals by Elizabeth Wolfgramm, were #1 hits on the Billboard adult contemporary chart. The band was nominated for a Grammy Award in 1988 for the song "Rocket 2 U".

Spin-Off
In 1988, Eugene Wolfgramm (under the alias "Gene Hunt") and Joe Pasquale formed the duo Boys Club on the MCA Records label. They released the song "I Remember Holding You", which reached #8 on the Hot 100, their most popular song. Eugene later reunited for the album The Best of The Jets (1990), but he and other siblings (Eddie, Elizabeth, Kathi) eventually left the band in succession. The band also performed the theme song for the 1989 Disney cartoon series Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers, and were featured in the soundtrack for Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) ("Cross My Broken Heart") and The Karate Kid, Part III ("Under Any Moon") and The Family Man (2000) ("La La Means I Love You").

Musical Changes
Throughout the 1990s, the band introduced other members of the family to the band and turned more toward religious music, increasing their following among fellow Mormons. The current lineup includes founding member Haini, and younger siblings Donnie, Natalia, Kelela, and Tiare. Though The Jets themselves rarely perform together, some members are still busy in the music business. With the older sisters' group "My Sisters", to Haini's group "I'Kona", to the younger sibilings' (Mika, Donnie, Kelela, and Tiare) called "Against the Season", the family continues to make music in its various forms.

In 2007, Kathi, Elizabeth and Moana, along with sisters Jennifer and Hinalei, released a gospel-themed album entitled My Sisters.

Appreciation
American pop singer Britney Spears recorded a cover version of "You Got It All" which appears on international editions of her 2000 hit album Oops!... I Did It Again. Also, musical artists Arnee Hidalgo, Pinay and MYMP (Make Your Momma Proud) have covered the same song. Pop singer Aaron Carter covered their song "Crush on You" on his first album, which became a top 10 single in Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom in 1997. Singer Nayobe recorded a version of the song "Make It Real" which became a hit in Latin America. Furthermore, Exposé recorded a version of the song "The Same Love" for their self-titled 1992 album Exposé.

At that moment you'll feel a lot of disturbing disturbances (parang may mali)..like metallic taste, itching neckline, stiffening fingers, dizzy eye fields ,oozing armpits(parang kadiri masyado ung term), and rumbling tummy.
I'm really scared and nervous but at the same time I can't wait for that to happen so i can finally say hayyy...its over.
Before that time comes, I have to take care of some things.

1. I have to wake up early and avoid staying late!
2. Tigilan na ang pangungulit sa housemates...aral muna.
3. Not too much sweets and fats....gusto mo bang matulog ng habang buhay?
4. Finish the book by schedule....naman ang dami kasing iniisip na ibang bagay kaya nagtatgl.
5. Iwasan na nga yang mga love songs sa mp3....nagdradrama ka tuloy imbes na nag-aaral
6. Ok lang ang coffee overload...wag lang softdrinks ha...
7. No more DVD sprees....magagawa mo rin yan after boards.
8. Target shoooting...bang....wala munang internet-internet...

Hay...just getting really boreder (such a term exist?) as the day passby.
Hopefully Lord, papasok ako ng residency ng Anesthesia this year at sa PGH.

1. I weigh 7.2 pounds when i was born, all I know my mom told me I was so big na parang 10 pounder daw...hahaha...ngayon talaga mabigat na ako.

2. My mom already is now 58y/o. ndi ko kasi talaga matandaan ung age ng mom ko. All i know is that she's around in her late 50's.

3. My dad is now 75. Like my mom, I really didn't know his exact age.

4. I was born around 1:15 am in the morning of July 31, 1981.

5. I was officially registered as a Filipino at August 14, 1981 in the Malolos Provincial City Hall.

The NSO Experience

This 'almost' boards experience is sending my nerves cracking already. After this endless studying I figured out I need a big break after. After realizing that my old birth certificate cannot be used for my application for this August's Medical Licensure examination, I had to rush to NSO to file an application for a copy. My sister told me it was an ease on filing for a copy of my birth certificate so I thought hey need to do this so I could go on with my reading.

Around 10am I arrived at the NSO building in Quezon Ave not knowing that the office has already moved to East Avenue near the SSS building. My golly, did I mentioned it was one hot day (33 degrees to be exact). Arriving at the NSO WTF! There were thousands of people lining-up filing for birth, marriage, death certificates and including the NOMACER(short for no marriage certificate)and the VISA's and the likes. My...I lost hope the moment I entered the premises. After picking up an application form and my Q-number....men....i was up for 5457th. Damn! I was sweating like hell already. I filled-up the form then on walking towards the long line, there was a booth near the rear end of the arena where the long line was located indicating a phone line where NSO services could be afforded using mailing services. It was a bit expensive compared to the usual process of lining up. So I decided why not instead of lining up in here?

On my way out, I texted my sister and told her of my plans. Nagreply ba naman at sabi sa akin na sayang at nandito na raw ako why not try pa? Kainis, alam kasi nya na madali ako makonsensya. Hay, naku. Cge hala, balik sa loob. When I was inside, stayed there for a while to observe things. Ting! haha. It just snapped on my head. I didn't have to line up. Actually there was no such thing as a line. It was all people waiting there for their number to be called. It was like 3780th that time and well, I can do some other things while this is rolling down. I went outside, I figured I have 3 more hours before my number is called.

I went in McDonalds in Tanadang Sora coz I really felt hungry and starving. I ordered my favorite Cheese burger meal with coke float. Yum. haha. Then had a few smoke. I went back at NSO around 3:30 pm. To cut the story short, I finished my application without the hassle of waiting there pretending lining up. it was still a tiring experience though. I'll be back there on May 26 to pick it up. Hopefully with no more problems. My boards getting nearer. 2 more months after May.

She is known for the emotional sound of her ballads and mezzo-soprano vocal range. As of 2006, she has sold over 40 million albums worldwide. Her best-selling album to date is Surfacing, for which she won two Grammy Awards (out of three nominations) and eight Juno Awards. In addition to her personal artistic efforts, she founded the Lilith Fair tour, which showcased female musicians in the late 1990s

Sarah McLachlan was born on January 28, 1968(1968-01-28), and adopted in Halifax, Nova Scotia. As a child, she took voice lessons, along with studies in classical piano and guitar. When she was 17 years old, and still a student at Queen Elizabeth High School, she fronted a short-lived rock band called The October Game. One of the band's songs, "Grind", credited as a group composition, can be found on the independent Flamingo Records release 'Out of the Fog' and the CD Out of the Fog Too. It has yet to be released elsewhere. Her high school yearbook predicted that she was "destined to become a famous rock star."

Following The October Game's first concert at Dalhousie University opening for Moev, McLachlan was offered a recording contract with Vancouver-based independent record label Nettwerk by Moev's Mark Jowett. McLachlan's parents persuaded her to finish her studies at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design before embarking on a new life as a recording artist, and McLachlan finally signed to Nettwerk two years later before having written a single song.
In 1997, Sarah McLachlan married her drummer, Ashwin Sood, in Jamaica. McLachlan lost her mother to cancer in December 2001, while McLachlan herself was pregnant. McLachlan gave birth to a daughter, whom she named India Ann Sushil Sood, on April 6, 2002, in Vancouver. By this time, McLachlan had already completed three-quarters of the production on her next record, Afterglow. On June 24, 2007, she gave birth to her second daughter, Taja Summer Sood, in Vancouver. McLachlan announced her separation from Ashwin Sood in September 2008.

Touch and Solace

The signing prompted McLachlan to move to Vancouver, British Columbia. There she recorded the first of her albums, Touch, in 1988, which received both critical and commercial success and included the hit song "Vox". During this period she also contributed to an album by Moev, and embarked on her first national concert tour as an opening act for The Grapes of Wrath.

Her 1991 album, Solace, was her mainstream breakthrough in Canada, spawning the hit singles "The Path of Thorns (Terms)" and "Into the Fire". Solace also marked the beginning of her partnership with Pierre Marchand. Marchand and McLachlan have been collaborators ever since, with Marchand producing all of McLachlan's albums and occasionally co-writing songs.

Tumbling Towards Ecstasy, Surfacing, and Lilith Fair

1993's Fumbling Towards Ecstasy was an immediate smash hit in Canada. From her Nettwerk connection, her piano version of the song "Possession" was included on the first Due South soundtrack in 1996. Over the next two years, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy quietly became McLachlan's international breakthrough as well, scaling the charts in a number of countries.

In 1993, Darryl Neudorf filed a lawsuit against McLachlan and her label, Nettwerk, alleging that he had made a significant and uncredited contribution to the songwriting on Touch, and alleging that he wasn't paid properly for work done on Solace. The judge in this suit eventually ruled in McLachlan's favour on the songs; though Neudorf may have contributed to the songwriting, neither regarded each other as joint authors. The judge ruled in Neudorf's favour on the payment issue.

In 1994, she was sued by Uwe Vandrei, an obsessed fan from Ottawa, Ontario, who alleged that his letters to her had been the basis of the single "Possession".
The lawsuit was also challenging for the Canadian legal system—Vandrei was a self-admitted stalker whose self-acknowledged goal in filing the lawsuit was to be near McLachlan physically. Consequently, special precautions were planned to ensure McLachlan's safety if at any time she had to be in the same location as Vandrei. The lawsuit never came to trial, however, as Vandrei was found dead in an apparent suicide before the trial began. This topic was explored at length in Canadian author Judith Fitzgerald's book, Building A Mystery: The Story of Sarah McLachlan & Lilith Fair.

Following the success from Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, McLachlan returned in 1997 with Surfacing, her best selling album to date. Earning her two Grammy Awards and four Juno Awards, the album has since sold over 11 million copies worldwide and brought her much international success. Still in the spotlight from the album, McLachlan launched the highly popular Lilith Fair tour. Her song "Angel"—inspired by the fatal overdose of Smashing Pumpkins touring keyboardist Jonathan Melvoin—made sales skyrocket. In Spring 1998 the motion picture City of Angels featured "Angel".It became the No. 1 album on the Billboard chart. More than five months after the movie disappeared from the theaters, City of Angels: Music from the Motion Picture remained firmly entrenched among Billboard's top 40 albums. This soundtrack earned quadruple-platinum status.

Lilith Fair
The McLachlan-founded Lilith Fair tour brought together 2 million people over its three-year history and raised more than $7 million for charities. It was the most successful all-female music festival in history, one of the biggest music festivals of the 1990s, and helped launch the careers of several well-known female artists.

Hiatus

In 1998, in addition to performing her own set, she performed a cover of Sad Lisa with rock band Phish at the annual Bridge School Benefit concert in California, hosted by Neil Young, after which McLachlan began an extended period away from recording or touring. Six years would elapse between the release of Surfacing and that of her next studio album, Afterglow.

However, she did release a live album in 1999, entitled Mirrorball. The album's singles included a new live version of her earlier doubles "I Will Remember You," a studio recording of which had previously been released on The Brothers McMullen soundtrack as well as Rarities, B-Sides and Other Stuff.
Also that year, McLachlan recorded the Randy Newman song "When She Loved Me" on the Toy Story 2 soundtrack. This song was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song in 2000, and McLachlan performed it at the awards ceremony, but the award went to "You'll Be in My Heart" from Tarzan, written and recorded by Phil Collins.

In 1997, McLachlan co-wrote and provided guest vocals on the Delerium song "Silence" for their album Karma. This song achieved a massive amount of top 40 airplay when released as a single in late 2000 and also featured on the soundtrack for the movie Brokedown Palace. In 2001, McLachlan provided background vocals, guitar, and piano on the closing track "Love Is" from Stevie Nicks' eighth solo album, Trouble in Shangri-La, in addition to drawing the dragon used for the "S" in Stevie's name on the album cover. In May 2002, her duet with Bryan Adams was released on the Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron soundtrack. She sang harmonies and played the piano on the song "Don't Let Go" while Sood did the drum work.

McLachlan also participated in several concerts during her break, such as Sheryl Crow's Live from Central Park in 1999, the Arista Records twenty-fifth anniversary celebration in 2000, as well as the 2002 British Columbia Cancer Foundation Benefit Concert in memory of cancer victim Michele Bourbonnais. She participated along with four other Canadian artists: Bryan Adams, Jann Arden, Barenaked Ladies, and Chantal Kreviazuk.

Afterglow
In addition to being used often to remember human beings who have died in disasters like the September 11 attacks, McLachlan's song "Angel" also appears on the soundtrack near the end of Tribe Of Heart's 45-minute documentary DVD titled "The Witness". The scene shows people's reactions to videos shown by Eddie Lama from his van, of how animals are killed for use of their fur.

McLachlan returned to public life and touring with her 2003 album release, Afterglow, which contained the singles "Fallen", "Stupid", and "World On Fire." Rather than shoot a conventional music video for "World On Fire", McLachlan donated all but $15 of the $150,000 budget to various charitable causes around the world and then used the video to explain how it benefited the communities that received the money.

Although she has returned to touring, she has no current plans to resurrect Lilith Fair. Another live album, Afterglow Live, was released in late 2004. The CD consisted of several tracks from a full-length concert which was included in its entirety on a DVD, as well as the three music videos from Afterglow.

In 2004, Darryl "D.M.C." McDaniels, who credits McLachlan and her music for lifting him from a period of depression, invited her to join him on a track from his solo album. Although the album was not released until early 2006, remixes of the song "Just Like Me" were included on a number of compilations in 2005.

In early 2005, McLachlan took part in a star-studded tsunami disaster relief telethon on NBC. On January 29 McLachlan was a headliner for a benefit concert in Vancouver along with other Canadian superstars such as Avril Lavigne and Bryan Adams. The show also featured a performance by the Sarah McLachlan Musical Outreach Choir & Percussion Ensemble, a children's choir and percussion band from the aforementioned Vancouver outreach program. In addition to her own headliner show she also joined Delerium live on stage for their first-ever performance of 'Silence'. The concert was titled One World: The Concert for Tsunami Relief, and raised approximately $3.6 million for several Canadian aid agencies working in south and southeast Asia. The show was the brainchild of McLachlan's manager, Terry McBride, CEO of Nettwerk. It ran for four hours and aired live on CTV across Canada.

On July 2, 2005, McLachlan participated in the Philadelphia installment of the Live 8 concerts, where she performed her hit "Angel" with Josh Groban. These concerts, which were held simultaneously in nine major cities around the world, were intended to coincide with the G8 summit to put pressure on the leaders of the world's richest nations to fight poverty in Africa by cancelling debt.

History

Barry PrivettCarbon Leaf got their start at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia in 1992 practicing in an auditorium on campus. Their next step was playing backyard parties, mixers, fraternity, and sorority parties. Shortly after everyone graduated they moved to Richmond, Virginia. From Richmond, they played the college circuit in Virginia and up the East Coast before moving on to clubs.

Meander, their first album, was released in 1995. The first songs Carbon Leaf wrote, including "One Day" and "Country Monkee" are on the album.

Shadows in the Banquet Hall, released in 1997, includes some beloved fan favorites: "Flood," "Wolftrap and Fireflies," and "Attica's Flower Box Window." An award winning video was made for "Flood."

Ether~Electrified Porch Music (1999) is the first album with Jordan Medas as the bassist. Ether features several concert regulars including "Home" and "American Tale."

Echo Echo was released in 2001 with "The Boxer" as the first track. "The Boxer" went on to bring Carbon Leaf local, regional, and even some national recognition. In January 2002 Carbon Leaf won the first-ever American Music Awards Presents the Coca-Cola New Music Award for "The Boxer." As part of winning they performed "The Boxer" live on the AMAs to 80 million television viewers worldwide. Following this appearance, "The Boxer" entered regular rotation on radio stations including Washington, DC's DC101 (WWDC 101.1 FM).

In May 2002, the band members gave up their day jobs in order to dedicate more time to the band and touring.

In 2002, Carbon Leaf contributed the hidden bonus track "Dear" from their Echo Echo CD to the soundtrack of the Kevin Hershberger Civil War drama "Wicked Spring". The haunting, flute-driven dirge plays for its full 7:37 minutes over the entire length of the closing credits.

5 Alive!, Carbon Leaf's first live album, was released during the summer of 2003. The album was taped over several concerts the preceding winter with the track list assembled to match a concert playlist.

In September, 2003, Carbon Leaf won the Pontiac Vibe Summer Sound off resulting in "The Boxer" being played in Pontiac Vibe commercials on MTV and VH1.

In Spring 2004, Carbon Leaf signed with Vanguard Records, part of the Welk Music Group, home to Nickel Creek, Mindy Smith, John Hiatt, Allison Moorer, Sinéad O'Connor, and Sam Bush.

July 2004 marked the release of their first album on a label, Indian Summer. The first two tracks, "Life Less Ordinary" and "What About Everything?", have received airplay across the country. "Life Less Ordinary" rose to number 5 on the AAA (Adult Album Alternative) charts and 29 on the Hot AC Charts. "What About Everything?" rose to 25 on the AAA charts. Indian Summer has been ranked in the top 10 by KMTT in Seattle, and number 40 out of the Top 50 Albums of 2004 by WXPN in Philadelphia. The album was produced by John Morand and David Lowery. Morand had previously produced albums by Guster and Sparklehorse, while David Lowery is the frontman and guitarist of both Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven.

The video for "Life Less Ordinary" debuted on January 5, 2005.

Carbon Leaf has opened for acts like Dave Matthews Band, Something Corporate, O.A.R., and David Gray, and has toured with Jason Mraz, Blues Traveler, Great Big Sea, Jump, Little Children, Matt Nathanson, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, and The Avett Brothers.

Their style is not "Brazilian Polka Metal", despite the joking claims of guitarist Carter Gravatt (B., David. 2002.[2].

In June 2006, an interview with Carbon Leaf guitarist Terry Clark was chosen as the cover feature for the inaugural issue of The Green Room magazine, which also reviewed Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat in its September issue, awarding it a 9/10.

On September 12, 2006, the band released Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat. According to their blog, it was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, and mixed in collaboration with producer Peter Collins and mixing legend Trina Shoemaker. (2006. "Monterey International Booking". In Fall 2006, Tom McCormack began touring with Carbon Leaf, playing keys and accordion.

In memory of the lives lost in the Virginia Tech shootings, Carbon Leaf played at Sudflood 2007. All proceeds went towards the memorial fund for the victims and their families.

In August 2007, Scott Milstead was replaced by Jason Neal on drums. In August 2008, Jordan Medas left the band to pursue a teaching career. He was replaced in October 2008 by Jon Markel. [3].

The band will release their seventh studio album, Nothing Rhymes with Woman, on May 19, 2009 [4]They have also stated in their shows that they will be contributing several songs to the sound track to the sequel to Universal's Curious George, including a version of Life Less Ordinary with new lyrics.

The whole morning and afternoon were tiring for me. After coming from the O.R. (Septoplasty with Dr. Pabico)I immediately went down in the OPD for the Operation Tule and had 9 patients in total (One of them had me feeling very stressed due to active bleeders). My back ache and i feel so hot (due to the weather people!). Then I get this call from my sister at syempre away nanaman as always. I felt bad had to smoke . On my way back Binati ako nila Jo (Our Guard) and invited me to drink. We were only consuming a small bottle of Grand Matador so I went outside and bought Generoso and Coke. Aun nakalimutan ko ba sabihin na busog na busog ako? Itong si Jo ang lakas pa magtagay. Kaya bago pa namen maubos ung Generoso nagkadang suka-suka na ko. Sa damit ko,sa shorts at pati na sa sandals ko. Putcha. Buti nakatayo pa ko. Nagpaalam na ko sa kanila. Syempre ingat ako sa pagpasok sa dorm kasi baka makahalata ung landlord ko. Ako ba naman eh maligo ng suka. Kuha na ko tuwalya at sabon at diretso sa banyo. Syempre nalaban ko pa ung damit ko. Pero makaraan nahilo na ko at napasuka ng 4 na beses pa. Yuck. Ako ba ito? 1st day of September, 2008

I woke up today, feeling that sweet rush of blood all over my body after having one long weekend of rest. It was a pretty feeling to have. Watching DVD's, eating noodles, surfing the net and lying there on my crooked bed wearing only my boxers. Nothing there to worry about yet. Haha. I'm giveth this time to take some leave of absence from the place I have been for the past four months. The past two months was one of the stressful time I had but also one of the best ones and I'm not denying the fact how much I've learned during my rotation in the Department of Pediatrics in Metropolitan Hospital.

I'm gonna be late again as I woke up early and finish up preparing my things and self about few minutes before eight. But I felt good. Community....how I can smell it. My time of rest. It was a hot morning but it didn't seem to matter that time as I was feeling good. This was one of those days I felt stress-free. Half of the morning went well. As noon time approaches, something started to sink upon on me. The reality I had to woke myself from my stress-free day. I don't want it to be ruined but I had no choice. Family matters.

I felt numb as I say goodbye to my co-interns to pursue my problem. I felt the sun loosing its shine over me as darkness starts to cover me. I walked through the streets of Blumentritt teary eyed. Not again. Everytime happening and predictable as it seems but I never made my self ready for it. So down with the fustration of this pursue, I decided to go back to my crib, removed my shoes and started removing my clothes off. Then I started loosing energy and suddenly fell deep into sleep. When I woke up, I missed half of the day in the community.

I felt dizzy and a little numb still. It felt like half of my body is buried in a pile of garbage. Its the same thing occuring eveytime. I felt tired I want to quit. My mom came that night. I want to embrace her but I felt very weak. She cried, I cried then I felt an energy coming into my body and providing me enough strength to even make a smile. It was my mom making me feel safe and calm. There was more than me, it was all of us. How sorry I felt that I've become selfish not thinking what others felt. I love my mom and I love my God that gave me this mother. It's time to take some rest, have a stick of cigar then slept.

Dr. Benjamin Cuenca, the Department Chair of OB-Gyne is about to celebrate his bday. We were tasked by our residents to prepare a presentation for the said event. Medyo mahirap mag-icip ng ipeperform since lahat kami laging busy at preococupied with sleeping more than doing other things kasi nga pagud na kame from duty. Buti na lang, andyan si Ge (1st girl from left with right fingers pointing between her right eye). To cut it short magBillie Jean/Thriller kame. Haha. Sobrang alam mo yan. Walang kwenta yung mga practice namen. Either kulang kame or tinatamad na mga tau. When the day came, we were nervous pero whalah! It was a stunning performance. Baket? Panu? We tried to mask our imperfect performance by adding good backgrounds. We all clothed in black for the Billie jean track with white gloves and socks. Tpos naka dark light kame kaya it would show as if mga kamay lang ung nagsasayaw sa stage. Then the thriller part (still on dark light) we took off or black upper garment and revealed our tattered clothes scaring people in the audience then finally dancing like corpse with style. Hayop! Hehehe. Everyone enjoyed it. Even Dr. Cuenca. We even gopt a 24-hour merit from Dra Janet. Pasaya na ng pasaya ang buhay ko dito sa Metro. To brighten more my day during my last duty, I got an invitation from Dr. Welson Yap to join the Anesthesiology Residency in PGH in June 2009 after my boards. Wow. Can I ask for more? Thank you po LORD sa lahat ng Blessings.

Today, I came across Mander's friendster account(a very close friend and colleague). I saw this folder showing 'Clerkship Reloaded'. When i was browsing the pictures, I came across one that really made me laugh and i didn't know it ever existed. It was a shot (shown above) showing a bunch of clerks sleeping and currently rotating in the Internal Medicine department of Ospital ng Maynila. Haha. 'Wasak" as we call it there. I remember those days. I couldn't figure how I survived it. It was one of a hell training ground. But hey, don't get me wrong. I learned a lot from that place. And I loved it there. If ever I'm asked if I would like to come back, I guess I would. Well in the future maybe. There are a lot of people in there that I miss so much. Not only Doctors but as well as our Manong's and Manang's. Even the people in the dietary who'd slip a dinner or lunch for me. Reminiscing....Hehe. Some of them (see below) had inspired most of us a lot. Well, I hope in seeing them soon. Mander dude, tnx for the pix. Hehe.

Well, what can I say, Sorry perhaps?
Hmmm.....

One's thing for sure, people may know me for this kind of attitude:
I'm not the first one to say sorry and;
hey things never really comes back the way they should be or if you get lucky it could open a lot of new doors for you and get to know the real me.

It's been 3 months since that incident last january 12, I dunno if I over reacted. But what you guys did really hurt me. It was a big deal for me because I had a lot of things under my head. I was too much pressured with my incoming examinations at that time. You of all people should know that. It was a tiring day also, I came from Bulacan from my sister's wedding. I had to get back to Manila and got sooked because of the heavy rain carrying the heavy load of food I bought for you guys. Then what I get? You know what I mean.

Am I really that good at making people feel bad? Had I said anything bad? Had been my reactions been too effective that I could do extras as contrabida on film? I guess not. I believe that my lack of emotion when you guys pass by me and my cold responses to your presumed attempts to make contact means I didn't reacted. I look at you didn't I? I replied to your questions didn't I? I think I'm not encouraged to smile or make you laugh anymore because of what happened and perhaps the work that I'm committed that eventually drains my whole energy.

For whatever hurt I have done to you, Ok I'm sorry for that.
I'm happy that you all treated me as your big Kuya and I will remain like that as long as I can.
Just dOn't expect to much on people.

I guess you can consider me as one experience you can use for future references.

Try to be sensitive sometimes.

I guess, you haven't tried hard enough to win my attention back. You should have bribed me with sweets (sansrivals and chocolates) and bought me DVD's and the like hahaha.. Joke lang.

I'm glad were all ok. I guess I have to give in because I heard our Lola in the house is leaving. I had to use trying my new clothes for graduation as my window. Anyways, wala pa namang mamamatay sa atin diba? So, I'm not saying goodbye to our lola Keg. I'm just saying Hi. Kamusta na ba studies when I passed by. Siya po si lola este Ate este Keg (syempre mas matanda pa ako sa kanya diba.) A.k.a Dyan Kristel Salbavor?? Ndi ko tlaga maalala ung spelling ng apelyido niya.

Isa po syang 1st year Med student sa University of Santo Tomas (sosyalin....just near the neighborhood eh). Isa siya sa mga taong noong una akong nakilala ay kinakatakutan ako...tila daw ba basagulerong addict ang itsura ko ung ndi gagawa ng mabuti tapos magkatabi pa kami ng kwarto (hehehe).

COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION: Ang unang Linggo

Ayan...hindi naman ako nakahitit ng usok sa mga tambutcho kanina galing skul
Parang hinagin lang ulo ko sa sobrang hirap (my goodness!) ng mga exams namin kanina.

Simulain natin mula ng lumisan ako sa aming kabahayan.

Sa aking paglabas ng pinto pagkaraan magpaalam sa aming lolang land lady na si ate Keg (mamya official ko na sya iwewelcome sa blog ko as kadorm namin...) bigla kong npasin ang kadiliman ng umaga eh 6:30 na sa aking celfone (sosyalin) bakit tila iyon ung senaryo khpon ng 11PM ng itapon ko ung bote ng inubos kong sarsa ng Mang tomas(yum). Anyweiz, ang layo nmn nun sa topic ko -syempre basta pagkain mahalaga. Kinakabahan na ko kasi alam kong ndi ako prepared sa mga exams dahil syempre ang sarap magbakasyon, magtamad-tamaran at makipagdate (hala chismis na nman yan para kay Ate keg).

Fast forward ng unti. Sa loob ng examination room, ayan unti-unti ng dumadating ang mga kabatch ko. Kita ang mga paeffect ng mga feeling ndi nkpagreview pero walang ginawa kundi daldalin lahat ng makasalubong. Andyan ung paeffect din na kala mo nakapagreview pero biglang magtatago sa likod para bulatlatin ung mga notes pag walang nakatingin(isa ata ako dun). Syempre ang mga natural na tao, yung aminadong ndi nagreview at the same time walang pake. Opps sa makakabasa...ndi ito in general...a few selected people lang(ahihihih).

First Part: PHYSIOLOGY
Tumayo na ang balahibo ko sa ilong(sabay atching) ng makita ko si Doc Wong na may hawak ng mga test papers at pumapasok sa examination room. Inaallergy kasi ako pagkinakabahan.
Habang nageexam...nararamdaman kong sumasayaw ang aking paningin at tila inaantok ako.
Pagtingin sa iba, inaantok din sila (may tulo laway pa nga - whooooo exag!) Si Wes na katabi ko nakahilata na sa upuan habang nkanganga.
Putcha...ang hirap.
Mga 5 minutes bago magtime.....ihhhh...ndi pa pla ako tapos magtransfer ng answers at paglingon ko...mga 10 pa kami na pare-parehong nagmamadali sa pagshade. Kaya kinuha ko na ung pentel pen at nagshade na ko pero tila naninigas ung mga daliri ko kasi nga bka mahuli ako sa pagpass...nakakahiya.
Sakto lang sa oras. Ayun.
Ung feeling nung exam para kang nahulog sa upuan tapos ung binagsakan mo puro barb wire (Awwwwwwouch!) Haler. It's like the real thing.
Sakit kaya sa ulo nung exam.
May mga moments na nagbabasa ako ng question at biglang ndi ko na namalayan eh nakatunganga na pala ako sa ilang letter. Tila baga lumipad ang aking pagiicip sa ibang dimensyon o kamunduhan kung saan ndi ko naalala ang lahat ng nangyari.

Second Part: BIOCHEMISTRY
30 minutes lang na pahinga exam na naman.
Mahal ko itong subject na ito....but haler....Ang hirap din ng exam na binigay.
May mga alam ako....pero maraming ndi ko na naalala.
Sad......
Ayun....
MAs nagimprove kami ngayon di katulad kanina.
Wala pang 1 hour, may nagpass na agad ng papel. Sino pa ba?
Eh di si Natz. Husay talaga nung batang yun.
Maya-maya...parang domino na sunud-sunud nagtayuan ang mga tao.
Shakksss....Infairness....isa ako dun. Ahihihihi

Last Part: Anatomy/Histology/Neuroanatomy
Oppsssss....shocking ito. Lahat ng ndi ko inakalang isasama nila sa exam..yun na ata ang pinagtatanung nila. Whahuhuhuhuh.....Tsk Tsk.
Anyweiz.....wag naman sanang bumagsak.
Alam ko papasa ako dun.
Pero mahirap talaga.
Hay.....

Pag-uwi...syempre nakakwentuhan ko si Bes frend Mhengalog at si Tin Taba (hahaha).
Tapos....sakay dyip.
Bukas ko bag.
Nagcheck ng mga sagot (OC)....
Ayun tila naoverdose ako ng morphine at na lead poisoning.
Ndi ko na naantala na nakatagilid pala ung upo ko sa dyip at hirap na hirap na ung ale na sumakay kasi kakapiranggot lang ung naupuan nya. Tapos tumaba pa ko. Kaawa-awang ale, muntik na mahulog sa sahig.

Hehehe.....I thank you Lord for being there all the way, even though I have committed a lot of mistakes and had became very hard-headed. Thanks to my loving family whom I really seldom see. The hospital who nurtured my future of becoming a good doctor. My batchmates, my resident doctors, a lot of kind and unkind (hehe) nurses, patients and people I've met, a year with satisfied health, my housemates who keep on saying I'm the eldest amongst them and I somehow found it sweet of them (although they don't know), my flame (you know who you are, thanks for the time we shared especially in the grass land where millions of mosquitoes bit me), those who wants me to prosper but can't see me and yet prays for me, to my fans (harhar....) thanks a lot.

God you know what I need and what i desire.....I offer them unto you. On your will, if not thanks still. Love you Lord! Welcome 2008!!!!

How could an Angel break my Heart?

The fact that I used to love her (Sniff...) and praised her for her beauty, talent and simplicity. She was the fantasy that kept a lot of men wanting to be a perfect men for every lady. She had introduced flawlessness even if she is not perfect. I don't want to give more praises, she don't deserve it.

Last week, after watching her contract signing in ABS-CBN, she then had an interview with Ms. Bianca Gonzales. I was really on focus to watch how she would answer the questions regarding her transfer. It really made me feel ashamed for her, the way she answers to questions delivered by Ms. Gonzales proves she can't fake the truth. What truth? Sorry to be rude. It's all about Money. Being famous is not her problem anymore. Greed pushes people to the limits. It pushes people to forget who their friends are, who helped them progress, who made them survive and enabled them to create a bigger and better living. I had awaited her answer for so long. Kahit na ndi sya nagcomment regarding her transfer to ABS, this was all enough to prove to me how low she had become. I was thinking, it was her right. Where's the ethics in leaving the place and people that supported you so much...then leaving a bomb to disable them so badly. I pray for GMA 7's success to continue. I ahve nothing against ABS...I want to clear that. Angel, don't be surpised.......the boat is sinking.....you are sinking with it. You stink!

I'm not gonna deny that some pressure is building up. Exciting times. We are eleven days away from principal photography.I try to be as creative and collaborative as I can. But, this is the time when the subjective meets the objective... the color meets the dollar, shot listing clashing with budgeting...And most of all - as I was reminded a few minutes ago - the producers make the final decision in everything... in the remake of my own movie. That's the reality. I'm just glad that I am making this movie and getting a break in Hollywood. My only objective is to be able to make a kick-ass scary film for my producers and investors. It really saddened me to hear that Angel Locsin have decided to move out of GMA 7 and transfer to ABS-CBN. The reasons were very unclear. How would she be in grave financial need and debt when she had been buying numerous luxuries that everyone could see? tama ba ko? The houses and the cars. Don't get me wrong, I love Angel so much. Infact everyone I know knows na crush ko itong bata na ito. I have too much respect for her because I saw how good she is as an actress. Our whole family loves her kahit na minsan medyo daring yung mga

suot nya sa T.V. The reasons that her father and talent manager gave were too trash to be believed by the public. I even read an article about Angel wherein her Dad and manager said that GMA 7 should not fret about Angel's departure since na-extract naman daw ng Siete ang kailangan nila kay Angel. It sounds like GMA only used Angel to gain popularity. It seems like it. Am I right? Hindi naman ako masyadong galit. Pero to be honest. Bumaba ang tingin ko kay Miss Angel Locsin. She owes a lot from GMA, atleast she could have said a very nice goodbye na lang. Sana wala na ung palalabasin pang ndi naging maganda ung trato sa kanya. She gained popularity that everyone would have wanted. Kahit sino magagalit. I hope all of this is a bad dream kasi ndi ko maimagine si Angel sa DOS. I hope na lang din na excusable ang mga reasons ni Angel. I don't have anything against DOS, I've watched some of their programs before. Hayy...showbiz talaga showbiz. Hehe

Fuzz and Wuzz About Iza Calzado is I believe and I guess over. She was announced yesterday to be reprising her role as the battered wife in the hollywood screen remake of Sigaw. Iza was rumored for so long to be playing a role in the movie which no one could really confirm if will happen. I have checked a couple of blogs and news from the net, since IMDB had listed her not showing the close and open parenthesis sign of rumor. I guess I believe she will be playing the part officially. I'm sure everyone would fret, opps wala namang masamang ibig sabihin yun eh. Sa mga ndi nakagets, pasensya na. The Echo finds an 'Angel' in the personality of Amelie Warner, british actress who would reprise the role of Angel Locsin in the hollywood remake of Sigaw. I'm trully excited as I have seen this announcement posted by Direk Yam. I have not seen how she acts but as I have ealier said in my previous posts, I believe in Direk's ability to transform his actors.

I would like to add some comments regarding the fuzz about Iza Calzado reprising her role in the hollywood remake. It would be very nice if she would play the role as everyone of us is hoping kasi super galing talaga ni Iza sa pagganap ng role niya as a Battered wife. But as of this moment, all we can do is hope (o sa iba eh magdasal-dasal) that she may be included in the film.

Two down, i'm waiting for other actors to go...atleast i'm awaiting the actor that will play the role of Iza and Jomari. Kasi sila ung mahirap hanapan ng katapat since they've acted their hearts out as everybody had been emphasizing. Hehe. Let there be world peace. Yon!

The Echo shouts Jesse Bradford

Its official, Jesse Bradford will be playing the role of Richard Gutierez in The Echo Remake. On my speculation, Jesse possesses a good quality as an actor as I have seen him on Swimfan, Hackers, Clockstoppers and on Romeo and Juliet. I just hope he doesn't bring with him the childish quality on his acting as he will be portraying a serious character here in this film. Well, I trust Yam Laranas, I believe he can extract the good acting out of every actors he had work with (just look at Richard). Well, we are done with one, few more actors to wait for. I'm wondering who would play the role of Encantadia's Yza Calzado and Jomari Yllana who both gave a very true-to-believe performances in this film and made us feel how real domestic violence is. I'm really excited with this project.

Ndi ko pa masyado kilala yung mga kakulitan nito pero palagay ko, tulad ni Karen at JC, makulit din. Puro makulit na lang ata nasabi ko.
